Wellness Correspondent

Apply here.

As a Wellness Correspondent, you will be a good steward of your resources (your time and talent) by using your unique voice and expertise to educate our community on our core eight branches of wellness and help them navigate crucial military family benefits. You could cover all or some of these:

  • Wellness Education: Your submissions will relate to one or more of our 8 branches of wellness: Creative, Mental, Physical, Nutrition, Social, Environmental, Personal Growth, and Financial wellness.
  • Wellness Unfiltered™ Content: We are Bold and Unfiltered in addressing the tougher, harder-to-discuss wellness topics (e.g., substance abuse, trauma, mental illness, sexual intimacy, chronic illness, loss). Your contributions will help military spouses know they are not alone, creating dialogue and connecting them to resources.
  • Resource Navigation: Content should also help military families understand and utilize their benefits, including TRICARE and other resources vital to military life.

Suggested Participation & Content Deliverables

We respect the dynamic nature of life, and participation is flexible. We ask that our Wellness Correspondents plan to deliver content in some of the following areas annually:

  • Resources/Social Media Content: 12 pieces per year (one per month) of shorter content, such as social media post copy, graphics, reels, carousels, quick tips, and downloadable resources.
  • Content Creation: You can create content by writing from your own lived experience, or by interviewing others, including wellness professionals, resource subject matter experts, military and civilian leaders, and other military spouses.
  • Feature Articles: Write for us! 2-3 original articles per year (typically 400-550 words for opinion/story/lifestyle articles and 750-1,500 words for more investigative, research or education articles) on a wellness topic, resource, or benefit navigation, suitable for the InDependent website.
