Every day there is something to be grateful for. I truly believe that until you are grateful for what you have, you’ll never grow into your true potential.

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY AS A MILITARY SPOUSE?

I’m a native Floridian and beach lover. I grew up in the panhandle on the gulf coast in a town called Navarre, which is where I met my husband. He’s a Pararescueman (PJ) in the Air Force. We have been married for 9 years this August and have 3 rescue pups and 1 rescue kitty. I have a degree in public relations and marketing from the University of West Florida, but decided health and wellness were where my heart really wanted to be. I’ve been a certified personal trainer since 2010, but started training full time in September 2016 at a gym called SPARTC (Sports Performance and Recovery Training Center) in Aberdeen, NC

WHAT WAS YOUR LOWEST MOMENT, WHEN YOUR HEALTH SUFFERED THE MOST?

From Jan. 2016 to March 2017, my husband was home for a total of 120 days, but it was very sporadic. A week home, two weeks gone, two weeks home, two weeks gone and then a four month deployment in October 2016. The back and forth schedule really took its toll on us. In addition to the stresses of having your spouse gone frequently, I took a new position as a manager at a gym (thinking it was my dream job) and the next 6 months were the worst 6 months of my life. Just before my husband deployed, I quit my manager job and started personal training full time and focusing on building my Isagenix business. It was an extremely hard transition, but I learned so much and I wouldn’t trade that time in my life for the world. If anything, it taught me that I am an entrepreneur through and through and inspired me to focus on my true passions.

WHAT WAS ONE OF YOUR HIGHEST MOMENTS AS A MILITARY SPOUSE?

My highest moment in life is NOW. Every day is a blessing and I’m so grateful for the blessings in my life. I’ve grown both of my businesses over the last 8 months and replaced my gym manager salary, which was my initial financial goal. I’ve grown more personally in the last year than ever and I’ve had the ability to create my life for the first time ever. I’ve learned the value of my time, especially when it comes to family and I’ve built a business that allows me to soak up every second with my husband while he’s home.

WHAT IS ONE PERSONAL HABIT THAT CONTRIBUTES TO YOUR SUCCESS?

Practicing gratitude. This has been something I feel that was instilled in me at a very young age by my mom, but as I’ve gotten older I’m much more intentional with practicing gratitude. Every day there is something to be grateful for. I truly believe that until you are grateful for what you have, you’ll never grow into your true potential.

What is your FAVORITE FORM OF SELF-CARE?

I get my hair and my nails done regularly. A friend of mine once told me that only thing you have left when you’re naked is your hair. That really stuck with me, so I enjoy taking the time to get it professionally done. It makes me feel good.

WHAT IS A HEALTH AND WELLNESS RESOURCE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH THE COMMUNITY?

I love the Tone It Up Girls! They’re one of my fitness idols and I love the content they put out. If you’re looking for a quick workout or a new healthy recipe, their site is full of goodness. I’d love to one day have a resource like theirs that I can point others to. I’ll have a website live in September, so that’s the next goal!

IF YOU COULD RECOMMEND ONE BOOK TO MILITARY SPOUSES, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

Secrets of a Millionaire Mind. This book is incredible. No matter if your goal is to be a millionaire or be able to put your kids through college, this book is for you. We all need money to do the things we wish to do in life and this book highlights aspects about money that I had never thought of before reading it. I bought it on audio and have repeated it twice to keep it fresh in my mind. Read it to find out about your “money blueprint” and how it may be affecting your success.
