SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN
POSITION SUMMARY: In this role, InDependent’s Social Media Intern will have the opportunity to contribute to our organization’s social media presence while receiving real-world experience, professional development, and various support benefits. This position will report to the Storytelling & Marketing Chair.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in managing and scheduling social media content across multiple platforms.

Collaborate with the marketing team to develop engaging and creative social media campaigns that align with organization’s goals and target audience.

Monitor social media trends, conversations, and relevant hashtags to identify opportunities for engagement and content creation.

Use tools such as Canva to create visually appealing graphics, videos, and other multimedia content to enhance social media posts.

Conduct research on industry best practices and competitor analysis to optimize social media strategies and identify new opportunities.

Identify influencers and social media accounts for partnerships, and support chair with collaborations.

Track and analyze social media metrics to evaluate the performance of campaigns and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.

Stay up-to-date with emerging social media platforms, tools, and trends, and propose innovative ideas to enhance social media presence.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support marketing initiatives, events, and campaigns as needed.
TIME REQUIRED: 5-10 hours per week
QUALIFICATIONS & SPECIAL SKILLS:
Skills should include, but are not limited to:
- Recent college graduate or current student pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Interest in mental health & well-being and making a positive impact on the military community.
- Active social media user on Instagram and/or Facebook.
- Basic understanding of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft engaging social media content.
- Creative mindset with an eye for aesthetics and design.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and multitask effectively.
- Detail-oriented and proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual team environment.
- Availability to dedicate a set number of hours per week to fulfill the responsibilities of the internship.
Additional Bonus Skills, a plus:
- Previous social media campaign experience.
- Familiarity with social media management tools (e.g., Meta, etc.) and graphic design software (e.g., Canva).
- Familiarity with software platforms, such as: Google Suite or Microsoft Office Suite, Asana, Slack, or similar.
- Experience working with remote teams.
