RESEARCH AND DATA CHAIR

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Research and Data Chair is responsible for the design and implementation of the organization’s data gathering initiatives.  They will develop systems, research data funding prospects and ‘set the table’ for the organization to cultivate prospects. They will also work to develop systems to measure program and organizational effectiveness to determine growth and success of the organization, which will in-turn be used to communicate with grant funders and funding partners. Leads the Research and Data Committee.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Create evaluations by developing systems and processes to measure work and Key Performance Indicators that InDependent intends to complete via programming, marketing, and outreach.

  • Develop outcome evaluations by creating systems and processes to measure intended impact that InDependent intends via programming, marketing, and outreach, through surveys, polls, studies and other methods.

  • Advise different continuous performance improvement initiatives based on data collected in process and outcome evaluation. 

  • Monitor and communicate process & outcome evaluation results to the Board.

  • Presents original or derived data in their most appropriate form for the intended audience (Board, donor, partners, members); this includes text, graphs, charts, tables, data visualization, etc.

  • Researches and provides reports on relevant information that would help InDependent achieve its strategic objectives and goals, to include, but not limited to relevant studies and information related to our mission.

  • Participates in funding and new initiatives committees.

  • Assists in the preparation of grant proposals and reports.

Board Member Responsibilities

  • Provide inspired leadership for InDependent.

    • Maintain a balance between all Branches of Wellness, both internally within InDependent and in our programming/external communications.

    • Maintain confidentiality to include, but not limited to, InDependent’s board meetings, Standards of Operation, policies, and financial records to persons inside and outside of the organization unless deemed appropriate by the executive team to release information.

    • Promote a spirit of teamwork through modeling the way of accountability, effective communication, integrity and creative problem solving.

    • Participate in philanthropic networks. Stay abreast and monitor trends in the nonprofit and foundation world. Identify and undertake professional development and training.

  • Identify and recruit individuals, businesses, and community based organizations that may sponsor or donate funds for the benefit of InDependent, in line with strategic priorities and funding plan.

  • Follow the bylaws, conflict of interest, and any other policies or publications founded by InDependent, Inc. and take seriously the legal, fiscal, and ethical responsibilities the Board carries

  • Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings and events.

  • Sign official documents of the organization, as required. 

  • Submit monthly report of committee activities, and annual committee AAR, budget and strategic plan that are in line with InDependent’s overall strategic plan and program initiatives.

  • Keep a digital notebook which contains, at minimum, copies of committee monthly reports, and After Action Reports (AARs) for the designated position duties or programs.

  • Maintain and update position description and submit annually to the President for review.

  • Participate in recruiting of staff/volunteer/board members, specifically taking the lead on planning for their own succession and offering up recommendations to the board. Orient’s new Initiatives Chair.

Volunteer and Committee Management

  • Responsible for recruiting, training, and establishing committee members, to include user roles and responsibilities, access to necessary Google Drives, Slack channels, and other committee software and programs

  • Delegate committee tasks to volunteers as needed, working with the Operations Chair to establish position descriptions, necessary SOPs, and rewards & recognition

  • Support volunteer communication with the board, to include organization announcements, updates, etc.

  • Track committee volunteer hours and submit monthly.

TIME REQUIRED: 15 hours per month on average, more time may be required for budget preparation and year end | Term of Service: 1 year

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, iWorks, Asana, Slack

  • Experience working with remote teams
