A former college athlete with a passion for real food and fitness, Leslie understands the importance of a group setting to motivate and encourage a healthy lifestyle. Leslie married into the military in 2009 and has enjoyed the excitement of living both Stateside and in Europe. Leslie aims to integrate her love of travel, design, and simplicity into her work. Leslie was also awarded the Armed Forces Insurance Ft. Bragg Spouse of the Year for 2016. When not doodling in a notebook, trying out a new recipe, or learning a new workout technique, Leslie spends her time traveling and hanging out with her husband and her black Labrador-mix, Bear.

Before I Co-Founded InDependent I:

Worked in public affairs for a garrison in Germany, helping to design and create an award-winning command blog. Before moving overseas, I worked for a fashion designer in New Orleans.

HEALTH | LIFE

Favorite Duty Station:

It’s a tie between New Orleans and Schweinfurt, Germany.

Fitness Routine:

It’s always changing. I played lacrosse in high school, college, and coached in grad school, so I’m always looking for a local team when I’m at a new duty station. Yoga has become a routine part of my day and has helped me manage stress. I actively participate in CrossFit with the goal of getting my level 1 certification in the next year.

Food Philosophy:

Keep it simple, keep it clean, and keep it real.

Favorite Pastime:

I really don’t enjoy distance running, but I loved the runs through the vineyards in Germany. There’s something so magical about the vibrant sun setting or rising over the rolling hills. Not a day goes by that I don't miss them.

Favorite Healthy Snack:

I have an obsession with goat cheese and crackers. 

Odd Healthy Habit:

Where to begin? All of my healthy habits are odd. I make all of my beauty products from scratch, I'm obsessvie about the quality of my food, and I have to do a five minute yoga routine to calm my mind before going to bed, otherwise I can’t fall asleep.

Fitness Achievement Most Proud of:

Finally nailing kipping pull ups and double unders. Those guys are tough.

Every single thing about my big, awkward "Premium Blend" dog Bear.

Wellness Practice:

I have made it so that fitness is an appointment I cannot miss. Everyday at 4:30pm I'm either in the yoga studio or at CrossFit. Period. It’s tough but makes me structure my schedule and make fitness non-negotiable.

Biggest Fitness Hurdle:

Just finding the time and staying motivated. I have to have a group environment to keep me accountable. I’m still on the hunt for my fitness tribe.
