January Jumpstart: Movement ChallengeA recent article stated 60 percent of women never participate in more than 10 minutes of vigorous physical activity per weekyikes! I dont want to be part of that statistic. Do you?

Starting January 1, join InDependent on a four week jumpstart program that encourages movement. This challenge will occur in the InDependent | Fitness closed Facebook group. If youre an active duty, reserve, or retired military spouse, come on over and join us!

Week one we will start with 10 minutes of physical activity per day. Each week we will increase our time by five minutes until we reach 30 minutes per day. Those who can do more are encouraged to participate as well. No matter your level, show us what you’ve got.

The January Jumpstart program is not restricted to one type of exercise. If you like to walk, then walk. If you’re into yoga, roll out your mat. Heck, you can even shut the blinds and bust out that fitness DVD youve been itching to try. Honestly, it doesnt matter what you do. Just MOVE and then post what you did on the daily check-in. Photos are encouraged, but not mandatory. If you feel like sharing your photos outside of the InDependent | Fitness page, use the tag #JanJumpstart to show us what you did.

A little encouragement from your virtual buddies might be the inspiration you need this year to get up and move. It’s going to be a lot of fun. Hope to see you January 1st!
