Fitness Challenge: Basic Burpees
The burpee is a triple threat: it builds strength, stamina, and flexibility. It also requires no equipment and can be performed by people at all fitness levels, making it the perfect exercise to help you stay fit (and sane) during long hotel stays during PCS season or when you can’t make it to your other favorite fitness activities.
For the burpee fitness challenge, select a length of time (between 2 and 5 minutes) to perform burpees each day. Aim to increase your reps and speed day after day. While burpees are incredibly effective at getting your heart rate up, I find it helps with my physical and mental endurance if I simply keep moving at a steady pace. Of course, consult with your physician before embarking on any new exercise program and always stop if you feel faint or dizzy.
